Jeanie loves to be creative! In lockdown she set about creating cinquains. A cinquain is a five-line poem that was invented by Adelaide Crapsey, an American poet who took her inspiration from Japanese haiku and tanka.

Enjoy...

Gassy!
Wind trapped inside,
bloating, gurgling, moaning.
Pressure pushing my diaphragm.
Burping!

Tiddles -
inanimate
drooping, curling paper.
Huge dinosaur in tiny form,
T-Rex.

Baking:
Flour, fat, sugar,
weighing, folding, pouring.
Slow to rise in the hot oven.
Sweet treats.

Lockdown:
Virtual hugs,
working in pyjamas,
exercising with baked bean tins
at home.

Snack time!
Pools of hot oil
help
kernels hop and jive
like jumping beans on trampolines.
Popcorn!

Today
feels damp and cold,
like a soggy flannel
drip drying on a bathroom tap.
Tuesday.

Brisk walk
around the block
to spot hens, cows and sheep
and hear gravel crackle and crunch -
then lunch.

Bookmarks:
Underrated
protectors of progress
sandwiched and pinched by leaves and ink
stand guard.

Knitting:
Needles and wool;
looping, weaving, shaping;
Multicoloured triangles for
bunting.
